While there are a lot of internet based business ideas out there, it is just worth it to do a canvassing first before you get compelled from the shackling welcome messages on websites and on signature boxes.
Fortunately, internet has provided people a lot of business opportunities online without spending a lot of money. What's even better is the unimaginable income potential of these businesses because the market is not limited unlike the brick-and-mortar businesses. If you choose to go globally, all you have to do is make few clicks and there you go! Earning money from different countries.
However, as compelling marketing strategies show that success with these internet based business ideas can be easily attainable, it is not really that easy if few things are not considered. It's just quite hard to stay on the right track. But what makes it even harder is knowing the right track. A lot of people went online, spent thousands of dollars, invested a lot of time and worked for months and even years just to correct a single mistake that they did not even know it was the hindrance. Even a slight misunderstanding with the system can give detrimental effects. As a result, time and money were wasted instead of earning a lot already with that span of time.
Good thing there are already reviews about various systems for the best internet based business ideas. For you to spot the best and not commit the same mistakes that a lot of people had, here are some considerations to know if a system could change your financial status:
1. Reviews
By reading reviews about a system, you will be able to know if there are any complaints about the system, what works or what is not. You will also know if it is a scam or not. Be sure to read a lot of reviews first as scammers can also make positive reviews about their own system.
2. Support
A legitimate system always has its technical support. It also serves as help desk for the people who are not technical-savvy.
3. Community
Though not every system has its own community, I believe it is best to choose the system that has its own community. With other people using the system, there will be constant interaction where everyone can learn from the mistakes that one has committed. Things that are effective can also be shared.
4. Continuous Learning
This is one important consideration. Always choose the system that does not leave you behind. There are systems out there that just leave you in the air after signing up (they are just after the money). In the world of business especially online, learning is continuous. Even the best learns. Look for a system that offers "webinars" or one on one coaching. Learning keeps the business going. As a lot of things on the internet change quickly, it is not effective to have a stagnant knowledge.
5. Relationship
Always look for a system that goes for a long-term relationship. You have invested to their system, it is just fair for them to care for your success. The best system lets you interact with the owner and the best people who use that system.
With a lot of internet based business ideas nowadays, we are just fortunate enough that there are people who want to share their success. However, every success came from different roads of experience. So just keep your mind open and don't just get compelled by the marketing strategies of these business systems or models. Know the things to consider and always remember, its important to stay on the right track consistently.

Video Hosting: The Way to a Successful Internet Marketing Campaign
People use the Internet for social-networking, keeping up with current events, looking for employment, entertainment, academic research, and online shopping. The Internet has drastically evolved throughout the years, taking over traditional media like TV, radio, and print, and provides unprecedented access to information.
Statistics revealed that the number of Internet users worldwide has mushroomed to over 2 billion, or roughly a third of the world's population. The average American spends at least 32 hours online per month, excluding work-related use. In addition, a survey by an SEO company showed that 92.86 percent of people rely on the Internet instead of the yellow pages, which is why a lot of businesses regardless of industry and size see the need to run their own website.
In our fast-changing and highly competitive economy, most businesses cannot afford not to have their own websites. Websites establish online presence, giving clients and prospects the impression that the company is versatile and dynamic to keep up with the pace of the global market. However, it is important to remember that online presence can only do so much; at the end of the day, it all boils down to the website's content.
Website contents are ideally short enough to be interesting, long enough to cover the subject, and accessible enough to entice users to fiddle their way through. Strictly speaking, texts and images, sometimes, fail to convey emotions and messages because they can only express so much. For a better shot at Internet marketing, adding videos can do the trick.
When it comes to Internet marketing, particularly Search Engine Optimization (SEO), videos are must-haves. Videos provide a dynamic experience for visitors as they can highlight promotions and provide more informative tutorials. In addition, most search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo) now include videos as part of integrated results, thereby driving traffic directly to your site. Now that you've learned an effective SEO technique, the next thing you need is a video hosting provider.
Video hosts allow individuals to upload video clips to a website. Hosts store the video on their server, and provide the user with different codes to allow others to view the uploaded videos. Thankfully, finding a video host is now easier thanks to the Internet.
The Internet is definitely here to stay for a long time. If you're in business, what you need is a reliable video hosting service to help promote your business. If you want to read more on video hosting, sites like webhostingart.com can provide more information.

Did You Know There Are Many Secrets Behind Cheapest Hosting?
A reseller host was my solution to earn online. I'd tried expensive hosts for years before I finally realized that they offer about the same thing that the cheaper hosts offer for my needs. I'm a text heavy website owner. Everything on my site is text. I don't need a super-powered multimedia website with flash out the ears to be successful online. I need the basics.
Cheapest hosting gives you the basic amounts of everything that you need to be successful online, while increasing your chances of turning a profit since all of your money won't be going to pay for website services you don't need in the first place. I didn't need a lot of bandwidth just yet. My site was still growing. During the growth period, I was able to cut costs by using cheapest hosting. The good thing is that the reseller host I was with had plans that went up as my traffic did.
Bandwidth is the one thing to look out for. That's your traffic meter. Everything else can stay small, but make sure that the reseller host gives you a cheapest hosting plan that has options to upgrade so that if your traffic expands, your plan can too.
Since switching over to the cheaper hosts, I've had an outstanding time counting all the money I've saved over the years. I've also noticed that none of my visitors complain. My site is a simple one. If yours is too, find a cheapest hosting provider and enjoy the profits.
Building up a solid web presence is the most important part of your business growth strategy for a number of reasons. Primarily, your web presence is the best way for your future customers to learn more about your business. Landing on the right website will go a long way toward deciding whether that site visitor becomes a customer or not. With this in mind, you also don't want to spend a fortune on your web hosting, meaning it's in your best interest to find the cheapest hosting you can get.
There is often a misconception within the community that "cheapest" automatically equates with "worst". While this can sometimes be true, it's not necessarily the case with web hosting. It really comes down to what you expect out of a web host. If you're not looking for a lot of crazy features, even the cheapest hosting out there will offer you exactly what you need.
Hosting is usually the most expensive part of owning and operating a website. These cheap hosts and reseller host make web hosting affordable for just about anyone. Due to the fact that having a great website is more or less critical to your success in business, finding a company that makes web hosting affordable is key to your business survival.
These days, you can find just about anything you want for a decent price online. With a cursory look through what's available, you will be able to very easily find a web hosting company that gives you everything you're looking for.

WARNING: Why You Need to Quit Your Day Job (Unless You're Already Earning $300 a Day)
I know this sounds overly optimistic and too good to be true, but I believe that everyone should quit their day job.
Unless you really love what you're doing right now, there is NO reason to work for the "man" (or, if your boss is female... for the "woman", either!).
The truth is, we live in very exciting times.
Years ago people thought that the internet would revolutionize the home based entrepreneurial marketplace.
They were right.
But it's really SOCIAL media, and the amazing avalanche of opportunities to reach out and connect with a community of people who share your PASSION which is tearing down the walls that stood in your way... even a few years back.
The truth is, if you love something... you can build a successful online business today.
Period.
All you need to do is be wiling to lead, think out of the box a bit, and create the actual community where others who share your passion will congregate.
People who are struggling to earn money online tend to think that you need to build a business around the "internet marketing" niche.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
As a matter of fact, I find the "IM" or entrepreneurial spaces the most difficult to monetize. (Mostly because you've got to sell some slimy strategies to REALLY succeed to the same degree you can have similar success elsewhere).
I want to give you what I truly believe is the absolute easiest way you can go from ZERO, to a six figure salary, in the next 3 months (working 100% for yourself, and getting started largely for free).
Build COMMUNITIES for other entrepreneurs who need content in real world niches that are professional in nature.
Do you know how many accountants right now do NOT have a website or blog (or have a site circa 1992 that looks worse than having no site at all?).
Do you know how many local restaurants need a blog and a Facebook marketing strategy?
Do you know how many passion professionals of ALL kinds who are HYPER successful in the offline world, need a ground floor marketing mentor in the online one?
Don't think you can create 1 new blog, with a Facebook page, a twitter account and some curated content per day and charge $297 for it?
You aren't looking that close if you don't!
The truth is, one of my best friends (a very successful doctor in NJ) just paid $4000 for a website that was literally 10 pages of content and a $35 template from one of the design shacks.
And he thinks he got a pretty good deal.
I could have done the same thing in 4 hours and done it for free (and would have it he asked).
There is AMAZING money out there for entrepreneurs who are willing to go where the REAL need is - and it's real people, with real businesses who are already successful and need help migrating their marketing online. (You can BE that bridge... and build your brand, your business and your bank account while you do!).

Offshore Hosting Can Give You Ultimate Peace Of Mind - Trust Us!
Getting an external host means there are reduced costs of setting up your own infrastructure, and fewer items to purchase. This also allows you to take the operations of your business beyond your borders. In addition to just getting this service, you can also turn around and sell it to other customers. You become some sort of vendor.
There are various elements that could motivate a business to turn to this service. First, it helps to change the policies of taxation. There is also increased confidentiality when it comes to the protection of entities that are beyond the borders of a country. The chances of making a profit are increased significantly when it comes to using this technology because it reduces costs. Also, you get less pressure from the government as a business, and there is little that is likely to interrupt your business operations.
Just like offshore banking, there are regions that are generally benefiting from these services. Most notably are companies, in Central America, in Asia and in the Caribbean. Although it is a cheap services, it is not recommended to go for it only unless you want to use it for your business activities.
The most important element when it comes to using the service, of course, is the issue of cost. In comparison with the other methods of setting up hosting services, it has been known to cost between thirty and fifty percent less. This is based on studies that have been carried out in the United States, the United Kingdom and eastern European countries.
The rates, per hour, in America for companies that choose to use this service usually vary between thirty five and seventy five dollars. The range is slightly less in the United Kingdom, where it costs between twenty five and fifty dollars per hour. In eastern European countries like Ukraine, the cost comes down to between five and twenty dollars per hour.
It is good to have services outside the country for various reasons. First, if it was local then it could hinder your business operations considerably. Local companies can use the judicial system to hinder your operations considerably. Also, you cannot be affected by things like blackouts since it is available in various mirror locations.
Other advantages of offshore hosting are that you are normally protected from restrictive censorship. It also protects you against frequent hacking. Finally, it allows users that are not part of the main source to read your content.

St Patrick's Day Games for Kids
Planning activities for St. Patrick's Day should be fun for everybody. Choose activities that are age appropriate for the age group that you are entertaining- kids won't enjoy games that are too easy or that are too difficult. Traditional party games are great for children's parties because of how versatile they are, the original game rules are only a guideline and can be altered to fit any occasion and theme.
To make game play more fun for young children you should try and eliminate or minimize the competition. Children under the age of 9 don't always understand the concept of winning and losing and feelings are sure to get hurt. St. Patrick's Day is about being "lucky" so make every child lucky by making them all winners.
If you will offer prizes for your games get creative and make them fit the theme. For example leprechauns are known for their gold coins so why not buy some chocolate gold coins? To make your prizes double as favors provide a black sack (little bag with pull string), when the party is finished and the kids are departing they will have a great party favor that they will truly appreciate, a lucky sack of gold! Tip: reward each child equally and if some kids have more prizes than others be sure to have extra available so everybody is treated fairly.
Treasure hunt- a treasure hunt is a perfect activity for people of all ages and always lots of fun. Hide "gold coins" that the leprechaun has hidden that the children must find.
Pot of Gold-this game is a simple modification to the traditional bean bag toss. Use black buckets or containers to represent the "pot" and yellow bean bags to represent the "gold".
Leprechaun Says- this game is played exactly as Simon says only Leprechaun Says! Choose one child to be the "leprechaun" and call actions for the other players to follow when he says "Leprechaun says", if any players do the actions and "Leprechaun says" wasn't called they are eliminated. The game is played until there is only one player left.
Pin the Shamrock-instead of pinning the tail on the donkey the players pin the shamrock on the leprechaun where it is supposed to go, you can make your leprechaun from poster board. Give each child a shamrock with an adhesive on the back. Blindfold the players one at a time and spin them 3 times and have them pin their shamrock. The player who is the closest wins.
Irish Hot Potato- to make this classic game with an Irish twist be sure to play some jig music- it will really set the mood! Have the players all sit in a circle and pass the potato around as the music is playing, when the music is stopped the person holding the potato is eliminated. The game is played until there is only one person remaining.

Online Dating As a Business Service: Can It Work? Is It Acceptable?
Lonely souls have been using the internet as a way to find love for years. With the creation of sites like eHarmony.com and Match.com, online dating has become very popular. Users take online personality tests and are matched with other users with similar results. By doing this, cyber dating sites have been successful in matching pairs and connecting people all across the globe, for a price. You would think that finding love should be free, but, the creator of these sites seem to beg to differ. How do you like the concept of Cyber dating as a business service? Is it right to charge people money to help them find the love of their life or potential soul mate? Let's explore this issue.
Online dating as a business service is nothing new but can it be seen as taking advantage of lonely people by charging them money to do something that most believe should happen naturally? That depends on who you are asking. There are some dating experts that specialize in helping match people up with another compatible person. You can find experts like these on television shows like "The Millionaire Matchmaker" in which a female dating expert helps wealthy men find a beautiful woman. Looking at cyber dating as a commercial service, you can just about see the similarities. Taking the personality tests is like talking to a dating expert. The more honest you are the more likely you are to meet your perfect match. It can't be taking advantage of people if they are seeking help finding someone they can connect with.
Trusting an online dating business service to help find a mate is very typical today. You can even find a cyber dating professional service dedicated to certain nationalities, sexualities, and fetishes. Don't be surprised at how many happy couples started out online as chat buddies, but, that doesn't mean that there aren't any cons to using a cyber dating professional service. Safety is a major issue when it comes to online dating.
You can't always expect people you talk to online to be who they portray themselves to be. As scary as the thought of it may be, certain sick people will use an online dating business service to prey on weak people. You can be subject to scams, fraud, and dangerous activity. People are encouraged to always meet up with someone in a public place. Not everyone is who they appear to be in their photos. Fact of the matter is, if someone catches you alone and aren't who they say they are, the possibilities of something terrible happening go up. Even though a lot of cyber dating business services have a verification process, you have to take the proper precautions to keep yourself safe.
Using an online dating business service can be helpful to those having a hard time making friends and finding a lover. By taking the proper precautions, doing research, and having a little patience, an online dating business service can make it much easier for you to get to know people all across the world. Remember, you can't believe everyone to be who they portray to be. Watch out for scams and frauds and never send money to someone you have never met before.

Folding Business Card Designs - Pros and Cons
Folding business cards are one of the current top trends in business card design.
They are designed to fold to the size of a standard business card, so easily fitting in a regular wallet or card-holder, but have twice as much space to fill. You can choose between the long fold, which will look like a mini greetings card, or the short fold, which allows it to stand vertically and fold out into a long bookmark shape. There is also the offset fold where the front is shorter than the back revealing the lower panel of information both open and closed. Well designed, all these formats can be appealing, functional and cutting edge, but there are also pitfalls to avoid.
Pros
You get a whole lot of extra space to include more information on products or services. You can add pictures, maps and all sorts of details on the inside of the fold, even making your cards into dual function mini-brochures.
The fold makes the cards self-supporting, so they can stand up and stand out on a table display making them far more noticeable and eye-catching than ordinary flat cards.
This format allows for plenty of creative design ideas and making your business cards into useful giveaways that people might want to keep longer - think about printing a reference guide relevant to your business in the middle: perhaps a weights and measures conversion guide; keyboard shortcuts list; a calendar; a planting guide; a colour chart, anything that your contacts might like to prop up on a desk or kitchen counter as a long-term reference.
You might prefer this format just because it allows for a whole lot of blank space inside to scribble notes. Some people print on the outside and leave the whole inside blank - especially in a business where the personal element is important. You can then scribble a twitter handle, a blog address a personal cellphone number inside before handing it over - whatever information is most relevant to that particular contact thus making your conversation more memorable.
Cons
Folding business cards can get too cluttered, as you try to cram in as much information as possible into what is still a relatively small space. Don't forget the prime design mantra of the business card - less is more.
These cards will cost more than ordinary business cards - they are effectively twice the size with twice as much printing and design involved, as well as the scoring for the fold. Weigh up whether you are saving money on other flyers and informational material by having the extra space inside - it could still be cost-effective if it saves you printing and giving out several other pieces of printed paper.
At double the size they are double the bulk, so you will have to carry more weight around in your pocket to have the same number of cards on hand: a small consideration, but worth remembering if you like to travel light.
In a similar vein, if you are going for the green approach they might not be your best bet - they use double the amount of card and ink, so even if you do choose recycled card stock and natural vegetable based inks, you are doubling the amount of resources used in your business cards.
If you decide to go for a fold, then make sure your designers make the most of it, so that it really does stand out from the crowd.

Emerging Markets - Your Solution to Business Growth and Your Next Blue Ocean
Economies and markets in many places are still in flux and businesses, even now, are encountering contraction in many of their principal markets. Watch CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, or BBC and businesses are inundated with mixed messages. "The economy is getting better." "Our administrations created X number of jobs this quarter." "The Stock Markets plummeted today as a response to x, y, or z."
Largely, this has caused mass confusion, and little or no growth for many industries. What should businesses do in order to take control of their company growth? The first step is to forget the hype surrounding First World economies; there is little to no growth in these markets. The second step is to move outside of the company comfort zone and begin to consider emerging markets as the next blue ocean.
Many of the world's fastest growing economies reside in Africa, Asia, and South America, not in North America or Europe. In many of these markets, burgeoning demands for high-tech products as well as consumer products exist. For non-product companies, many of these markets still need professional business and personal services. Some of these service lines include, but are not limited to the following:
Security
Information Technology
Financial Services
Logistics
Capacity Building and Training
Infrastructure Support, and
Many Others
Many of these growing markets also need technology, management, and other products and services in order to bring their natural resources to market.
Further, many of these countries are great places for outsourcing. Some locations offer business friendly terms in order to attract foreign companies looking to outsource labor and other functions. While some unpleasant stigmas surround outsourcing, the unfortunate positions many First World countries are finding themselves in leaves businesses few other options if they are to continue growing.
When considering an emerging market, decision makers will often hesitate due to "associated risks," and inadvertently miss the larger picture. Various large, risk averse corporations have been conducting business in these locations for many years. One notable example is IBM. IBM has been doing business in Africa for 50 years and has invested over $300M USD in their African growth in the last 5 years. What is it that these companies seem to know that others do not? Simply, it is that the business environment is changing rapidly and many First World countries simply cannot keep up anymore. Steve Wynn's recent decision further accentuates the inability of First World countries to compete as their economies continue to contract. Now, as a result of advances in technology, smaller and mid-size businesses find themselves able to access these markets and increasing the potential to create their own blue oceans.
While mitigating the risks of expanding into emerging markets is possible, companies should not blindly pull out a world map, point to a random country and begin the expansion process. Companies need to come to terms with the level of risk they are comfortable shouldering as well as the ideal locations for their specific products or services. Additionally, companies need personnel and resources that understand these environments, how to conduct business there and how to mitigate potential risk when working locally.
Unfortunately, most small and mid-sized businesses do not possess the in-house resources necessary to effectively qualify potential markets and navigate the various legal and cultural hurdles that can hinder growth and expansion. Companies can augment their in-house resources by engaging outside business development consultants or through hiring personnel that specialize in these markets to assist in building their development strategy as well as in successful implementation of that strategy. Some firms specialize in specific markets and provide the expertise and understanding of the local conditions necessary for successful market entrance. Additionally, they can advise on the viability of one market/country over another for specific products or services within their geographical area of expertise. Further, they are also capable of making introductions to potential partners and vendors.
Overall, the potential for growth and Return on Investment in these emerging markets outweigh many of the unfounded risks that companies often associate with doing business in these countries. Companies' that intent on expanding and growing both their revenue base and profits must look to these new markets in order to find real, sustainable growth.

Five Reasons to Hold Your Conference in Rotorua
When you want to hold a conference that isn't the usual mundane affair that many employees feel is very 'been-there-done-that', it pays to look outside the office for a different venue that intrigues and excites - bringing life back to where it's needed the most: your staff and your business. With its huge number of accommodation options that are well suited to hosting and entertaining, Rotorua might be one of the best places in the country to plan your conference or business meeting. Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery and a change of location to inspire employees and impress guests.
Look for some of the great conference packages in Rotorua that the hotels and lodges can offer your team. Here are five great reasons to hold your next meeting in the North Island resort town.
Get your employees to take it seriously
When you host every future planning session in the same four walls and you're using the break room for all of your meetings, things start to get a little tedious. If you take your conference seriously then your employees will too. The more effort you put into organising a proper session with your team the more effort they will give you back - you'll notice fresh ideas arise from a fresh situation and you might even be surprised with the things they come up with.
A great location
Rotorua is one of the most beautiful cities in the country and the best place to relax and unwind. Whether you're just meeting with your team or you are meeting clients from another city or another country, they'll love being able to soak in the hot pools at Polynesian Spa or enjoy a nice meal at Mac's Steaks on Tutanekai Street when they aren't talking business. Everyone works better when they're relaxed and content.
Opportunities to bond with your team
While you're away with staff, it might be the perfect time to organise a team building afternoon with a company like Action NZ. Get to know each other better and have some fun outside of the office - Rotorua is the perfect place with its ideal location next to the lake and plenty of outdoors to explore.
Present your company professionally
When you're meeting with clients or an international business partner, you want to look as professional as possible. If you don't have anything to worry about other than the content of your meeting, what could go wrong? All you need to bring is the agenda; let your hotel or lodge take care of everything else.
Function and event experience
With its high volume of tourists, hotels in the city of Rotorua have their fair share of experience catering for and looking after large groups. Providing everything for your function won't be any hassle at all for trained staff that have done it all before, meaning you won't have to worry about any of the organising yourself.
Enquire about our Conference Packages in Rotorua. Holiday Inn Rotorua offers flexible and varied spaces to hold meetings, conferences and special occasions for between 2 - 600 people.

Conflict Resolution Management Companies Mediate Disputes to Achieve Business Goals
One of the key roles of a conflict resolution management company is to act as a mediator in business disputes. Mediation helps businesses face challenges that threaten everything from jobs to revenues to the sustainability of businesses themselves, with objectives of improving performance and minimizing conflict.
Becoming an effective mediator takes time and requires specific skills. A mediator must be trusted as an objective third-party who commands respectability and credibility, and oversees a mediation process that enables both sides to feel that they are victorious while also accepting compromises.
The goals of the conflict resolution management company are to provide a neutral, objective, and safe place where both sides can constructively participate in resolutions; to open the free flow of communication and encourage creative problem solving ideas; to be the trusted liaison for both parties in settling the problem; and to provide strategic guidance and honest feedback that leads to an amicable solution.
It's important to keep in mind that the mediator's goals are only attainable if the members within each team share a common vision, are committed to the same objectives, and understand their roles in achieving those objectives. After all, how can mediation work between two groups if each group is already divided from within? So before even beginning a mediation session, the conflict resolution management company must meet with each group separately to ensure each is focused on cooperation and teamwork. Every team member must express a willingness to:
• Share information to keep everyone in the loop and up-to-date with current, evolving issues
• Communicate expectations about one another
• Empower each other by publicly recognizing that every member's ideas contribute to the success of the team
• Promote positive morale and protect the team's reputation with outsiders
• Quickly and effectively resolve conflicts by openly sharing differences of opinion to arrive at a consensus that results in a united front
Once the teams are united from within, it's time for the conflict resolution management company to begin the mediation process, which can be defined in three phases:
• Phase One: Establishing credibility. The conflict resolution management company plays a passive role in this first phase, establishing the primary and secondary points of contention. Its main goal is to gain the trust of the conflicting groups. Each must be confident that the mediator is looking out for their best interests, does not have a stake in the outcome, and is only present to assist with a fair resolution. The mediator should focus on listening in this phase, leaving most of the talking to the disputing groups. When appropriate, the mediator should interject probing questions to identify the root causes of the dispute, the obstacles that exist, and a prioritized checklist of all of the issues that need to be addressed. At this point, it should be possible to begin genuine negotiations.
• Phase Two: Guiding the negotiation process. The conflict resolution management company is still impartial in this phase, but begins to take a more active role by directing the negotiations. It delves deeper into the source of the contention, offers advice to both sides, and discovers areas in which compromises can be reached. The mediator encourages each group to develop and communicate proposals and counter-proposals, and may begin to exert pressure for both sides to agree to a settlement.
• Phase Three: Producing a final, mutually agreed-upon settlement. In the last phase the conflict resolution management company may have bilateral discussions with individuals to help draft proposals for consideration by both groups. The mediator may then assist with crafting the terms and conditions of the final agreement.
When a company arrives at an impasse, whether within its own walls or with another business, hiring an experienced conflict resolution management company can turn a seemingly untenable situation into a resolution that gives both sides more of what they desire.

Tips for Event Catering
Event catering is an excellent choice for a multitude of functions. Whether you are hosting a small party with a few of your closest friends or throwing a large wedding reception, catering is a wonderful way of ensuring your guests are well fed with great tasting food. In addition to cooking and serving the food, many catering companies can also help you with setup and cleanup. This is an essential service particularly for large events. Providing a well dressed place for your guests to dine will make a great impression on them as well as facilitate the atmosphere of the party. If you want to have your next gathering catered, here are a few tips for making sure things go well.
Party Size: It is very important that you give your caterer an accurate number of the people who will be attending your party. The amount of food they will make will be based on this number. Although, many event catering companies cook a little bit extra to accommodate people who want a second helping, it will certainly not be enough to handle a significant increase from the original number. To avoid running out of food or having food go to waste, get as accurate a count as you can. This is probably best accomplished by having everyone you invite RSVP that they are coming and whether or not they will be bringing a guest.
Buffet is Better Than Wait Service: It is very impressive to have a staff of waiters personally serve your guests their food. This can also help with portion control and ensuring every person gets a meal. However, this service typically costs more because of the extra personnel the event catering company has to hire and may require a little more effort to make certain everyone gets a meal they will eat. Wait service is best for smaller events. For large events, like corporate gatherings, it is best to have a buffet where everyone services themselves. Not only is it cheaper, it is also much easier to plan and implement.
Quality Over Quantity: If you are on a budget, opt for three really good courses instead of five or more selections. This will save you money and reduce food waste. Most people won't notice that there is no soup or that there is only one dessert if the food that is served is high quality. Additionally, try not to go overboard on the hors d'oeuvres. One or two good appetizers are better than a passel of hors d'oeuvres. The event catering company can help you pick out a great menu for your budget.

Technology Continues to Grow Whether You Notice It or Not
No one alive today would have a hard time seeing the amazing growth of technology. Our modern society revolves around our technological achievements. The way we communicate, the way we do our daily tasks, and the way we get our information. The growth of technology has changed so many aspects of our lives and ingrained itself in how we do things that many people even forget that technology even played a part on how they live.
It can be argued that our generation is the most well informed and the most technologically advanced to date, well at least until the growth of technology surpasses our current knowledge and adds to our ever growing understanding of the world around us. Humanity has always developed around the growth of technology, from the very first time that cavemen discovered the use of fire, to the present where information can span continents almost instantaneously. Our innate desire to surpass the limits of human understanding and capability, our need to better ourselves and our goal to find solutions to the problems that we face today, further drives the growth of technology to such heights that even the most ambitious of our forefathers would have scarcely thought it possible. Humanity has always been a race of dreamers, and the growth of technology has made many a dream into a reality.
The speed in which new scientific and technological discoveries are made has caused many people to be cautious about relegating science fiction into the realm of fantasy. With the surprising pace that the growth of technology seems to have, it is not hard to see why the lines between science fiction and science fact can often become quite blurry. It's only been a little over a hundred years since men achieved powered flight, A little over forty years since men landed on the moon, and one of the pinnacles of communication, the internet, was only commercially available in the mid 80′s. Fantastic stories of a century ago are now mundane occurrences for the people of today.
With the current trend of the scientific community of continuing development, it is safe to say that the growth of technology shall remain steady. Necessity has always been touted as the mother of invention, and as we discover new things about ourselves and our surroundings, the more we realize that we face wide reaching problems that affect our race as a whole. The growth of technology should always stay in pace with the challenges that come our way in order for our society to survive.
The growth of technology may have escaped the notice of a great number of the population, but it cannot be denied that it is what powers our society, both for good or for ill. We all live in an age where information is readily available and many of our mundane tasks have been simplified for our convenience. Technology continues to grow regardless of whether or not you notice it, our daily lives revolve around it, and it plays an important part on how we live, work and play. We may sometimes forget that it's there, but for our race to continue to survive, it should constantly adapt to the challenges that we may face.

Explaining Websites and Blogs - Which Will Work Best for You?
So You Think You Need a Presence on the Internet
Well you are not alone. According to Reuters News Service there are about 550 Billion websites populating the Internet. While search engine giant Google may have as many as 1.3 billion indexed in their database, this is actually a number they chose to keep secret.
Websites serve a multitude of purposes-they may carry late, breaking news, today and maybe tomorrow's weather, health information covering what causes pimples to how cancer is treated, or perhaps the latest family photos from a couple living in New Zealand. Regardless of a website's purpose, their creators, known as webmasters, may choose one of two delivery formats: a website or a blog.
What is a Website
In the true sense of the word, what we refer to as a website today is a connected group of pages posted to the World Wide Web that is regarded as a single publication, which is usually maintained by one individual (webmaster) or perhaps by a business or organization. Many websites are devoted to a single topic or even a number of closely related topics or themes. The news of the day is an example and so are health matters.
From a technical standpoint, a website is a static collection of written content and illustrations in what amounts to a fixed format. A website is constructed using hypertext markup language (HTML). This is a code that when viewed-looks like a bunch of gibberish. By fixed format, I mean once the website is constructed, it is often a bit complicated to change its appearance.
Websites are most often built using an HTML editor. For the right price, this editor may be purchased as part of a complete software package or website builder. I bought one of these after trying unsuccessfully to use the site builder offered free as part of my first website hosting account (more on hosting later). My personal experience in building websites was an exercise in futility and I built two of the ugliest sites on the Web. Blogs are most often thought of as a website that posts short articles on any topic conceivable and readers are able to go on the site and post comments. Pretty cool...right!
What is a Blog
The term BLOG is a short for WEB LOG. I started off using Google's Blogger, and at one point in time I built and published nearly 50 free Blogger blogs. All of this was in pursuit of establishing a part time business as an Internet marketer. I was thrilled with this uncomplicated format since I considered myself as "Digitally Challenged." I was and am still am not a techno-geek.
About a year ago I decided to take the plunge and dump the two websites I struggled to build, publish and maintain. I replaced them with blogs that have made life so much more pleasurable for me.
My first blog away from the Blogger scenario was a free blog hosted by WordPress. This was a life-changing experience for me. I only published that one WordPress blog hosted by WordPress, since this blog creator does not permit their hosted blogs to carry any commercial messages. But I developed a love affair for WordPress blogs so I bought a new web hosting account-one which specialized in presenting WordPress blogs to the World Wide Web. So far I have built and published more than two dozen WordPress blogs, and I am proud to say that I have yet to contact WordPress for any technical support.
While many of my blogs have a commercial purpose, I am providing valuable information to people searching the Internet for an answer to a problem. And I'm having a ball with blogging and I even make a few dollars too.
What is Web Hosting
My first commitment to a web host was very unrewarding. Many of the technical problems went unanswered because their tech support people seem to be preoccupied with other matters. It was next unto impossible to get them on the phone and it took several days to get an email reply. My new host is just the opposite. I call and a human being, speaking plain English, answers after a few rings. I never have waited on hold for more than five minutes.
If you are considering a website for your business or pleasure, I strongly recommend a blog. My web host installs my new blogs on my account via their cPanel, which is a must-have service for blogging. All this takes seconds and my blog is in place. It takes longer for me to buy a domain name (the web address) because I may have to make several attempts to get the domain name I need. Domain names are one-of-a-kind. Say you want the domain name, howtoloseweight.com, Of course this domain is taken so I try something like, how-to-lose-weight.com. or something similar.
I recently constructed a new blog on the topic of web hosting. I had no problem with the domain name since the site is hosted on one of my sub-domains. A sub-domain is just that-it is subordinate to my main domain. Here it is. Take a look and learn more about webhosting. http://webhostingwithbluehost.donpenven.com
This address is a subdomain and with my name is part of the address, I can use virtually any combination of words. Take a Look. Learn About Web Hosting.

Boys' Birthday Parties - Competitive Fun
Providing a great boy's birthday party is important to parents but causes a major problem for many. Over the years, you have hosted the home party (not easy for boys' birthday parties in winter and in some houses) moved to the village hall, tried football parties at the local sports centre, taken them bowling, to the cinema and even held a swimming party. You have always managed to pull off an original boy's birthday party but now you are running out of ideas and want something that is fun for all the boys.
Different Boys' Birthday Parties for Different Ages
Parties for 9 year old boys and older are so much more interesting as the boys are able to do so much more, including more challenging activities, which makes boys' birthday parties more fun for this age group. There are a number of activities, which are completely organised for you, so you have little planning to do. Instead you are able to relax, confident in the knowledge that your party, organised to provide fun for the birthday boy and all his friends provide a great time for all children attending the party.
Activity led parties usually stipulate minimum age and height requirements for health and safety reasons, so it is advisable to check with the venue if you have a younger child or a smaller child amongst those planning to attend the birthday party. You also need to check first that all the children will be able to join in with the activities as children with limited mobility, even if just a temporary broken arm or leg, will be left disappointed if they are left to spectate watching their friends enjoying the running around having laser gun battles or even enjoying racing at a karting party.
Boys Love Using the Latest Technology at Parties
One activity which is growing fast, especially with Formula One becoming ever more popular, with British stars like Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, are venues which have multiple race car simulators. A great example of this is The Race Centre based in Chandlers Ford in Hampshire. This is a great venue for a boy's birthday party. Most young boys have used driving game stations at home at some stage, but this is on a completely different level. They now have a chance to use the very best in race car simulation, similar to that used by current F1 Teams. It allows a number of friends to take part, racing with up to 10 drivers on track at the same time. It is competitive, fast and exciting. It is also completely safe, as using race car simulators no one will be hurt no matter how competitive they become. This is great stress reliever when hosting an activity led boy's birthday party.
Relax and Enjoy your Boy's Birthday Party
As the one paying, hosting and organising the event you should be able to enjoy the party yourself. A great additional benefit to using a venue where everything is taken care of for you, is that you are able to relax whilst the professional staff members run the whole event. There is no cleaning up to do when you are tired at the end of the party either! Enjoy! Planning boys' birthday parties has never been easier.
The Race Centre is an innovate and fun racing simulator, and is ideal for events such as Boys Birthday Parties, stag days, and corporate team building. Suitable for most children over 9, and for up to 50 guests, it's the ultimate party venue.

How To Con Your Parents Into Listening To You
Okay. Lock the door. Pull down the shades (do you have shades?) and cozy up to a truth every teen knows: Parents never really listen! You know that, your friends know that, that guy with the crazy hair down the street says his parents listen but he's home schooled. So here's the big question: How can teens teach their parents how to listen?
But first, let's look at some of the complaints teens have about their oblivious parents:
Teen: Mom, I'm taking the bus to school today.
Actual meaning: I made a huge dent in the side of the car last night.
Parent: That's okay, dear; I could use the car for shopping this morning, anyway.
Complaint: Like, didn't she get it? Oh, she will. She will.
Teen: Dad, can I stay at my friend's house and play more video games?
Actual meaning: We're too bloated on cheese doodles to move.
Parent: Well, as long as your friend's parents are okay with it, I guess so.
Complaint: Like, I guess if his parents don't know we're pigging out, we're fine. So, why does Dad mind I'm covered with cheese doodle paste... and so are the sofa cushions... and the carpet... and the dog....
The thing is, most of the time teens are fine with not being listened to by their parents. But here's the problem: What happens when you really need them to? You see, all your training in getting them to ignore you isn't going to come in handy. You're, like, the kid who yelled woof! Or barked, or something.
So, how do you get your parents to listen when you need them to?
Well, here's the bad news. You can't. They're too old to change their ways and they only get smart again when you're around 25. But here's good news!. If you start to listen to them, they will start listening to you! I know, I know, it's a lot of work, but let me tell you: it's worth it.
Try this at home folks! Next time your parents are blathering on about something, pretend that it's important.
Take mental notes of what they're saying and see if you can make sense of it in your superior teen mind. Then say it back to them, to make sure you understood what they said, but in your own words. If they tell you that was exactly what they meant, then act like you care. Tell them how it would make you feel if that had happened to you. Try to imagine what it would be like.
Tell them it makes sense to feel the way they do (All the things you never hear). But now, get ready for the sick part: It actually feels really good to do this sort of listening. Only a teen could do it so well. But you never know, sometimes parents can learn new things before you are 25.
Also, if you try this listening thing out on friends, they actually start listening back. Whoah! Before you know it, you may find this stuff is habit forming. Listening and being listened to. It doesn't suck!

How Occupational Therapists Can Assist Children
The changes that take part, the different transitions in a child's life, all prepare him for adult living. From his infancy to toddlerhood, from getting into grade school then to a higher level, a lot of activities should be participated in to aid his development. But when there are impairments in his cognitive, physical, and motor skills, it would be very hard for him to get past the different stages successfully. With this matter, occupational therapy comes in. Yes! They may not have occupations but let us come to think that a child has his main jobs: to play and to learn.
Occupational Therapy is geared towards improving the quality of life by preparing him to become independent to face transitions despite the disabilities he possesses. It is one of the responsibilities of occupational therapists to address the child's deficits on psychological, social and environmental areas, which cause an effect on his normal functioning. With early childhood transitions, they are geared to achieve with the child having successful preschool and kindergarten experiences, develop balance for work and play of the child, and learn independence in self-care and daily living routines. As development continues and moves up to a higher step, the aims become more of sustenance and turn out to be more complex. The child is to develop and sustain positive work habits and skills, achieve success at technical schools or colleges, and learn strategies for successful community living, enhancing the social being in him.
According to the American Occupational Therapy Association or AOTA, children with the following medical problems might benefit from Occupational Therapy: those with birth injuries or birth defects, sensory processing disorders, traumatic injuries (brain or spinal cord), learning problems, autism/pervasive developmental disorders, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, mental health or behavioral problems, broken bones or other orthopedic injuries, developmental delays, post-surgical conditions, burns, Spina bifida, traumatic amputations, Cancer, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and other chronic illnesses which may affect his development.
Aside from the developmental needs arising from these medical conditions wherein occupational therapists need to address, there are also deficits in the kid's abilities inside the classroom that needs interventions to support the learning task. The program is what we call School-based occupational therapy. Objectives are devised short-term with long-term goals for each student to meet. The students receive assistance from trained professionals to correct skills, and these OT's stay in contact with the guardians of the child for progress until goals are achieved. The following are examples of skills to be addressed: holding a pencil or any writing utensil properly, pencil pressure too hard or too light, writing letters and numbers (proportion, formation and/or placement), staying focused on a classroom lesson, learning to adapt to sensory stimuli, buttoning/zipping clothes, poor printing legibility, poor organization of work on page, inadequacy of time to complete written work, difficulty in copying from the book or board, and poor posture when writing or performing any tasks on his desk.
Therapists evaluate the child's skills for playing and coordination, school performance and daily activities such as bathing, feeding, grooming and others, and compare them with what is appropriate for their developmental level. These not only improve their skills but enhance their sense of worth and of accomplishment as well.
If your child does have special needs to be addressed by an expert, then try to talk it out with your doctor or your child's guidance counselor, and see if having an occupational therapist could be an antidote to the problem.

Three Things Your Child's Elementary School Teacher Will Never Tell You (But She IS Thinking It!)
You're finally sitting face-to-face with your child's teacher, ready to discuss his reading and math performance or perhaps his playground conduct grade. You met her at the school's first parent night, you've read the class newsletter, you've even exchanged emails that day he stayed home sick with a tummy ache. Behind that bubbly personality and that professional demeanor, you'll be shocked to know what she's really thinking about you:
1) You are in the classroom too much.
It's called "helicopter mom" syndrome. One teacher recalls a contest she hosted to reward students with perfect attendance by letting them be "teachers for the day." When it was one student's turn to pretend to be the teacher for that day, the mother stayed in the classroom the entire day--not participating in the class activities--but just sort of staring from ten feet away. The teacher and students felt like ants in an observation jar. Also, students sometimes display undesirable behaviors when their parents are in the room that they don't otherwise display. Some children are noticeably more aggressive or less productive. While most teachers sincerely appreciate volunteers, make sure that your presence is purposeful and wanted.
2) Remember last winter break when you called the school just as the teachers were leaving to ask her to wait for you to get back to the school to retrieve your child's left behind cap?
Well, the teacher hasn't forgotten being the last teacher to leave the school that day. Nor did the custodian or the assistant principal, all of whom had to wait around-without extra compensation-on you. Sometimes parents forget that teachers have lives outside of their classrooms. Many are willing to grade papers or write lesson plan after hours. However, at the end of the work day, most teachers' attention spans for the day have been spent already. That includes parents who are late to pick up their children from after school events as well!
3) Your child would be better off with another teacher.
Like students, teachers have unique personalities and specialized skills sets. Some teachers are better with students who have disabilities, some are better at drawing out shy personalities in students. Where a strict disciplinarian might be just the trick for a student who warrants structure, that same teacher might stifle or even frighten another student. Principals place different combinations of teachers in the same grade level for a reason, and not always because one teacher is more talented than another. So why wouldn't your teacher just recommend a teacher change? Her colleagues might likely consider the suggestion her way of getting rid of a difficult student. Even worse, she doesn't want you to assume she doesn't want to deal with your child just because of her deficiencies; often this is considered a violation of a student's federally sanctioned rights (read: lawsuit). Also, the school may have a policy against student class changes. Either way, approach the subject delicately if you believe your child might benefit from being in a different teacher's class. Find out what the school policy says, and consider going to the school's principal directly. Be sure to emphasize the reason your child needs a different kind of teacher. This is not the time for personal attacks or accusations.

Your Child Could Be the Class Bully - Three Things You Should Know NOW
Schools nowadays are much more proactive against bullying, and rightfully so as seemingly minor bullying incidents can lead to major safety incidents later. Parents are not surprised to learn that bullying exists even in elementary grades, but they are often shocked and even defensive when the label is applied to their own children.
1. Your child doesn't seem to be making friends.
Does your child have trouble making friends or have poor social skills? Sometimes a child will result to bullying because that is the only kind of social interaction that seems to be getting attention from others. Other times a child's constant bullying has frightened other children into keeping their distance as much as possible. If this is the case for your child, look for resources such as the school counselor, a community organization, or a big buddy program to help your child reconnect with others. Similarly, be wary of your child making friends with other bullies, as sometimes bullies find strength in numbers. Research shows that a child's peers can have as much or more influence on a child than his or her parents.
2. Your child's teacher has mentioned this to you.
Teachers don't throw the word bully around lightly. Schools nowadays are much more proactive against bullying, and rightfully so as seemingly minor bullying incidents can lead to major safety incidents later. The increased attention has actually opened up a proverbial can of worms at schools, as many of the incidents being reporting are not actual bullying cases. So if a teacher brings up the issue, take it seriously and be proactive before bad habits in your child are more established. The same is true if the child has been in trouble in the principal's office. A formal discipline referral is usually the last step in a line of lesser interventions.
3. Your child's grades are slipping.
A principal once told me that she once checked the current grades of all the students who had received formal discipline referrals at her mid-sized elementary school. Every student who had been in her office that week also had performed poorly on their school work. A sudden drop-off in student performance could be indicator of a number of potential issues in a child's life. Whatever the reason, it's time to have simultaneous talks with your child about school work and social behavior.
Helping your child overcome excessive aggression or other unhealthy social behaviors is all about looking for patterns of behavior, noticing extreme events, and considering all logical possibilities before drawing a conclusion. Look for clues that your child is displaying bullying behaviors, and make contact with the teacher and other supports before the behavior gets out of control.

Layers Of Online Brand Marketing
Fifteen years ago, which isn't very long ago in the grand scheme of things, advertising or marketing was handled in multiple layers. The more layers you used the more exposure you got. The more exposure you got meant there were more customers for you and the more customers you had, the more money you received. Back in the day this was the concept of marketing. Wait a minute, we still use that concept today. Today's marketing concept uses the internet. Some people may still use the television and radio to advertise their product or brand or market themselves, but most everyone is using the internet entirely for their marketing tool. Yes, internet marketing or branding is done in layers as well. Remember, more layers means more exposure. So the old marketing layers were television, radio, newspapers, yellow pages, billboards, flyers and telephone solicitors. Basically anything that would get the written or verbal word out to the people of the country or world. Seventy-five years ago, although not as many media venues were available for advertising layers, they still used what was available. That was radio, newspapers, billboards, flyers, yellow pages, and word of mouth. The reach then, was available mostly in the city or town the marketer was living in and depending on the money available to the marketer, maybe their state and neighboring states. Now years have gone by and technology has gotten better and better. Now we have this great marketing tool called the internet, and still we market in layers.
The layers of online brand marketing include PPC ads, article writing, blogs, press releases, websites, YouTube videos, Craig's List and kijiji ads, social marketing and now text messaging for cell phones. Online brand marketing has many more layers available to any marketer who wants to market or brand themselves or product that they wish. Now the only problem is that not every marketer knows how to use any of these layers to the fullest potential. Now we can market and sell to the world. Of course I am sure that there are marketers out there that will still use the television, radio, and newspapers as well as the internet and all its layers. To get more exposure put your content out in as many layers as you can. You may become a millionaire. You may just make a comfortable income level for yourself. Whatever your choice is, online brand marketing must be and is done in layers. To your layered success.

Shortened URLs - Where and Why Are They Used?
It is the case that the best domain names in the .com TLD (top-level domain) have already been taken and that shorter domain names which make any sense are hard to come by. Adding prefix and suffix terms to sensible phrases may get a URL that makes sense but then it is getting to be a rather long name.
One alternative is to seek other TLDs such as.me which originated as a country-specific domain that has been offered to the greater Internet interest. However, the .me TLD does not garner the same "respect" and search engine recognition as the .com TLD. The .us TLD is so low in demand that domain name registrars are offering it at basement prices around $4.00 per year.
Long domain names lead to long URLs which are cumbersome to type out, especially on mobile devices. This is the key motivation to desire shorter URLs. An extreme example might be Twitter which allows 140 characters maximum in its tweets so keeping message length to a minimum is particularly important. Shortened URLs are needed in tweets.
Over the Internet years, there have been a number of providers of shortened URLs through URL redirection services. It is indeed a useful function on the web so much so that Google has been using such an internal service for a few months for Google services such as Google Toolbar and Feedburner. In September 2010, Google offered the URL shortening service to the general public. With its own short goo.gl domain name, it is the latest player in the business of offering a shortened URL redirection service.
In order to provide a short URL, the providers of the URL shortening service must themselves have a short domain name. The choice of lesser demanded TLDs such as .gl and .ly are examples. Couple that with a catchy TLA (three-letter acronym) results in a short URL. Domain names are an administrative and political issue, not a technical issue.
If it were up to me, I would name the World Wide Web using .1,.2,.3,... TLD domains (by geographical segmentation perhaps). I would eliminate the use of www altogether as a subdomain; it is superfluous and irrelevant. I would not use country-level TLDs as that is being circumvented anyway. What qualifies someone to use, for example, .gl and .ly, or .me? Oh, the country with authority grants that right for others not in the country to be able to use the TLD. I would grant myself the authority using my new World Wide Web naming. As I said, it is a political and authority issue, not a technical issue.
The use of shortened URLs is not without drawbacks.
Server delay associated with redirection, no matter how fast the server.
It can be used as a disguise e.g. by spammers.
It removes the SEO advantage of rich keywords in the URL.

It removes the SEO advantage of a direct backlink to my site.

Student Group Travel to Philadelphia: A Natural Classroom
Philadelphia's rich history and long list of attractions make the "City of Brotherly Love" a natural classroom for student groups. Made famous for the birthplace of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" with the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, Philadelphia is a dynamic student group travel choice for learning about Colonial history and the Revolutionary period. Combine Philadelphia's fascinating historical sites with its world-class museums, exciting attractions, fantastic entertainment, professional sports, signature shopping and delicious food, you then will have a recipe for both an educational and entertaining student tour, one that will touch your groups' hearts and minds. Philadelphia not only retells the powerful stories of our nation's past, but is willing to accommodate and entertain student groups as few other cities can.
Philadelphia's Historical Sites
The historical aspects of Philadelphia are fascinating. Being both an indoor and outdoor museum of history, Philadelphia is famous for its role it played in forming our first republic government. As part of your trip, you and your student group should include the Historical Independence Walking Tour on your itinerary. The 2+ mile guided tour walks you through old city Philadelphia to 11 significant historical sites including:
Independence Hall
Liberty Bell Center
Declaration House
Carpenter's Hall
Supreme Court
Congress Hall
Franklin Court
Elfreth's Alley
Betsy Ross House
Fireman's Hall
Christ Church and Burial Ground
Make sure your student group wears comfortable walking shoes before taking this tour as it is centered in the historical section of Philadelphia where cobblestone streets abound.
If you decide to visit the more popular historical sites without taking the guided walking tour, then the following would meet and/or exceed your educational objectives.
Liberty Bell Center - Having a new home in recent years, the Liberty Bell is now located across the street from Independence Hall. The center is equally powerful and dramatic as the Bell itself. Throughout this expansive and historical center, larger-than-life historic documents and graphic images explore both the facts and myths of the Bell. Tradition tells of a chime that changed the world on July 8, 1776, with the Liberty Bell ringing out from the tower of Independence Hall summoning the citizens of Philadelphia to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon. X-Rays give one an insider's view of the Bell's crack and inner workings. Short historical films trace how abolitionists and other groups adopted the Bell as its symbol of freedom and liberty for all.
Independence Hall - Being the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, Independence Hall is one of the most important historical landmarks in the United States. Major steps towards independence were taken here by delegates of the English colonies, amongst them George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. The Declaration of Independence was signed in this building on July 4, 1776. Independence Hall was also the site where the American Flag was first unveiled in 1777. In 1781, the Articles of Confederation uniting all thirteen colonies were ratified here as well as the U.S. Constitution in 1787.
National Constitution Center - On July 4, 2003, the City of Philadelphia opened the doors to the National Constitution Center. This captivating center tells the story of the U.S. Constitution by means of more than 100 interactive multimedia exhibits, photographs, sculpture, text, film and artifacts. The Kimmel Theater, a 350 seat star-shaped theater, features "Freedom Rising," a multimedia production combining film, a live actor and video projection on a 360° screen to tell the stirring story of "We the People."
Christ Church and Burial Ground - Christ Church, founded in 1695, is an interesting place to explore Colonial and Revolution-era history. Its burial ground, which includes the tomb of Benjamin Franklin, is an authentic historic site for learning about the lives of early Americans.
Betsy Ross House - The Betsy Ross House is recognized as the place where Betsy Ross lived when she made the first American Flag. Built around 1740, the house is located just blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center.
Old City Hall - Old City Hall was Philadelphia's second city hall and served as the home of the United States First Supreme Court between the years of 1791 and 1800.
Valley Forge National Historical Park - The picturesque, rolling hillsides of 3,600 acre Valley Forge National Historical Park are a peaceful reminder of freedom won by men's sacrifices long ago. It was here that General George Washington forged his Continental Army into a fighting force during the winter encampment of 1777-78.
Overall, Philadelphia provides student groups a fascinating historical education about the beginnings of our first republic government and Colonial history. In addition and not even mentioned in this article are other world-class attractions and museums like the Adventure Aquarium, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Academy of Natural Sciences, Fels Planetarium and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Unlike any other city, Philadelphia provides student groups with unlimited attractions, museums, historical sites and monuments. As one can see, Philadelphia has it all!

Top British Getaways
There are many things one can do on a holiday, depending on personal inclination and the right environment. The thing about Great Britain is that there is no shortage of things to do, especially in the summer! So whatever your interests are, you can plan a fun break in the UK. Here are some ways to spend time on a short British getaway.
The United Kingdom is a group of islands, so it is impossible to ignore the ocean. There are many sea side resorts and holiday spots spread across the UK. There is nothing like a seaside break, relaxing on the warm sand, feeling the salty breeze on your face while munching on fresh sea food. And if you prefer some more excitement, there are many ways to enjoy the water in a more adventurous manner. UK has a vibrant water sports scene, and sailing and surfing are very popular.
The British countryside is like no other place in the world. It has a unique landscape characterised by rolling hills and meadows, dotted with grazing sheep, with quaint little villages nestling among the gentle hills. National parks like the Peak District in central England, Lake District in the North West or Snowdonia in Wales are ideal locations for planning outdoor holidays. Hill walking and hiking are popular activities among visitors. Walking paths are well maintained and the official British ordinance survey maps are extremely useful to navigate your way around the outdoors.
Britain has a very rich historical heritage. Places of historical and cultural interest can be found in cities and towns throughout the country. For those interested in the history of the UK, it may be fun to plan a holiday based on places of historical interest ranging from Neolithic settlements to castles and fortresses, which have always played an important role in the history of Britain. People travel from all over the world to see sites such as the Stonehenge, a famous prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire.
The UK also has a thriving biodiversity, with a wide variety of flora and fauna. For wildlife enthusiasts, a wildlife spotting holiday can be fun. See seals and dolphins in Skegness, go diving in Cornwall, or spot Ospreys in Scotland. And with such a variety of birds, simply enjoying birdsong in the woodland can be an immensely pleasurable activity too.
These are just some ideas for what one can do during a short holiday in Great Britain. There are of course, city breaks as well which have their own charm, and each city offers a unique experience. The fact is that there is a huge variety of things to see and do in the UK. There are plenty of resources available online to plan a holiday from travel guides to official tourism websites for different destinations.

Play On In Wisconsin Dells
If you're among the myriad of parents and families in town for youth sports tournaments, we have a strong hunch you'll be looking for things to do between the games. And boy oh boy, do we have some super recommendations for you!
The Dells is quickly becoming a sports mecca for youth tournaments, events and camps, and the 2012 warm weather season stands to be the best ever, with basketball, softball and volleyball filling up the calendar. For filling down time between games may we suggest some non-competitive activities. Then fill up on good eats to keep those energy levels high.
Between games, coaches typically want players to conserve their energy, so a stop at a Wisconsin Dells restaurant for some nourishment or a little shopping in the Dells would fit the bill. Siblings, on the other hand, can have at it with a visit to an indoor amusement park, an interactive attraction or a trip to one of the indoor Wisconsin Dells water parks.
Start outdoors - the fresh air will do you good - with a Duck tour of the Wisconsin River. If the coach gives the go-ahead, head to a Wisconsin Dells outdoor waterpark like Noah's Art Waterpark, where you can try the new Quadzilla racer slides (remember, no need to be too competitive, as it's primarily intended as adrenaline-inducing fun). Or go from screaming for the team to screaming on a roller coaster.
Balance your time in the sun with some indoor fun.
In Downtown Dells, you'll find Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum, a place loaded with exhibits that are oddly captivating. Next door is Wizard Quest, a full-size labyrinth adventure in which your goal is to find and free the wizards of the realm. For kids with an artistic streak, maybe siblings who are along to cheer on a brother or sister, there's Paint It! Pottery Shop, where they can create their own masterpiece. Wild Fun Zone is the place with the big gorilla on the top of the building and bumper cars, mini golf and laser tag inside.
On the Wisconsin Dells Parkway, there's the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory - Interactive Science Center, with more than 175 interactive exhibits, including a virtual sports center that's sure to be a hit for obvious reasons. Adjacent to Great Wolf Lodge is MagiQuest, a four-story live action adventure game with players using magic wands - score!
After you've worked up an appetite, take the team to one of the two Monk's Bar & Grill restaurants in Wisconsin Dells for a classic burger the locals love. Other player favorites include Pizza Pub, Moosejaw Pizza & Dells Brewing Co., Buffalo Phil's Pizza & Grille, and River Walk Pub.
Go team!
Julia Randles is the Communications Specialist & Events Manager for the Dells at the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau, and is responsible for promoting Wisconsin Dells "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®" as a premiere national tourism destination for families, meetings and conventions, youth sports and group travel.
